Tempe Councilmember honored by statewide appointment
Councilmember Mark Mitchell appointed to the Executive Committee
of the League of Arizona Cities and Towns
TEMPE, Ariz. – Tempe City Councilmember Mark Mitchell has been appointed
to serve a two-year term on the Executive Committee of the League of
Arizona Cities and Towns, from August 2006 to August 2007.
The 25-member committee is made up of mayors and councilmembers from
some of the 90 cities and towns represented by the league. The Executive
Committee acts as a board of directors for the League of Arizona Cities
and Towns, deciding on policy and direction for the organization.
Councilmember Mitchell was appointed in November 2005 to serve as Vice
Chair of the Community and Regional Development Panel of the National
League of Cities. A third-generation Arizonan, Councilmember Mitchell is
serving his second, four-year term on the Tempe City Council. Beyond his
activism in several community organizations in the Tempe area,
Councilmember Mitchell is chair of the National League of Cities
University Community Caucus.
