Phoenix Voters Approve Parks and Preserve Measure
Phoenix voters today approved the extension of a sales tax for parks and preserves.
In unofficial results, a total of 89,612 votes, or 83 percent, were cast in favor of the proposition, while 18,777 votes, or 17 percent, were cast against it.
The measure will continue a 1/10 of one percent sales tax voters approved in 1999 for parks and preserves improvements and land acquisition. The approved sales tax is set to expire in 30 years.
There were 108,389 votes cast in today’s election, which is about 21 percent of all registered voters in Phoenix.
