Museum event examines Schwemberger photographs
TEMPE, Ariz. – Join Arizona State University and city representatives for coffee, a visit to the museum galleries and a lively discussion about the Schwemberger photographs, currently on display in Tempe, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 at the Tempe Historical Museum, 809 S.
Southern Ave. (southwest corner of Southern Avenue and Rural Road).
Admission is free.
Dr. Robert D. Taylor, Chair, Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance, New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, ASU West Campus, and Aleta M. Ringlero, Faculty Associate, ASU Curator, Casino Arizona, will discuss the famous photographs, which make up a collection of glass plates produced between 1902 and 1908 of Navajo, Hopi and Pueblo people and places.
About 40 of these historical photographs are on display through March 30 in the library’s Second Floor Gallery, 3500 S. Rural Road, and at the Historical Museum.
About 3rd Thirstday Night Café
3rd Thirstday Night Café features presentations about a variety of topics from 7 to 8:30 p.m. every third Thursday of the month from January to April and from September to November.
