Target Partners with Phoenix Public Library for Grade One at the Library
The Phoenix Public Library Foundation announced the receipt of a
grant from Target to support GOAL (Grade One at the Library) during
the 2006-2007 school year. GOAL is a citywide effort to assure that
first-grade students sign up for and receive a library card. By
reaching out to more than 1,000 first-grade classrooms, Target’s
grant will assist the library in serving nearly 15,000 students and
their families throughout Phoenix.

USAA Fund Leads Way in Fund-raising for Phoenix’s Agave Library
The Phoenix Public Library Foundation has received a $50,000
contribution from the USAA Fund, a Fund of the Arizona Community
Foundation, for Agave Library. The contribution will assist the
Phoenix Public Library with building a teen space at the regional
branch, which will be constructed at 36th Avenue and Pinnacle Peak
Road beginning in the fall.

Phoenix Public Library Web Site to Feature ‘Rock Star’ Librarian
Nancy Pearl, a regular contributor to National Public Radio and a
nationally known librarian who inspired a librarian action figure,
will be featured on Phoenix Public Library’s Web site beginning Aug.
1. The library Web site will link to Pearl’s Web site, which
features a dozen of her book reviews – “Pearl’s Picks” – each month.
