Wild Wednesdays event takes children to Mars

TEMPE, Ariz. – Wild Wednesdays takes a voyage to Mars from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the Tempe Historical Museum, 809 E. Southern Ave., (southwest corner of Rural Road and Southern Avenue).

Participants will discover the history of mars exploration, make a solar system and UV bead bracelet, see images of Mars topography, test their knowledge at the mysterious planet station and more.

Families looking for a cool way to spend their summer days are invited to walk-in anytime during the event and enjoy games, crafts, scavenger hunts, demonstrations, story times and/or music. Summer camp groups are welcome and need to reserve time in advance by calling 480-350-5100.

July 11

Farmers and Ranchers- learn how to twirl a rope, make your own cotton plant, see an old fashioned chuck-wagon and more.

July 18

Prickly & Wild: Desert Plants – Learn about low water use plants, view a pollination display with a matching activity and discover recipes using desert plants. Participate in a story time and demonstration featuring fascinating facts about desert plants and enjoy scavenger hunts in the courtyard and in the museum.

July 25

Time Travel: The Roaring 20s – travel back to the 1920s and learn about baseball, movies, comic strips, airplane flight, toys and more. Enjoy a DJ with 1920s music, a dance “marathon” with prizes, stories from the era, a scavenger hunt and more.
